IEC Chesapeake’s Governmental Affairs Committee will serve as the link to local and state governments as well as an advocate to address legislation and regulations that could positively or negatively impact our members. The Governmental Affairs Committee will build brand identification for IEC Chesapeake with policymakers.
The Committee will advocate on behalf of labor, tort, tax and regulatory issues as well as issues specific to the electrical trade issue. The Committee will meet with elected and appointed officials so that they may gain a better understanding of issues important to our members.
The Governmental Affairs Committee will need assistance by generating consensus among members on issues and having members take the time to testify on legislation or meet with policymakers. IEC Chesapeake’s Governmental Affairs Committee will take the lead in reaching out to groups that share our vision on various issues. The Governmental Affairs Committee will assist members in solving problems with government.
