It’s been an eventful 100 years for the Leviton Manufacturing Company. The company was founded in 1906, by a man and his son, each of whom had a dream, a vision and the dedication to realize them. Throughout the years, Leviton has set industry standards for product design and innovation; the company holds over 600 design patents. The Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) and the touch dimmer, both introduced by Leviton in 1972, revolutionized home electrical safety and lighting controls, respectively. The Decora® line of designer-style wiring devices, unveiled one year later, did the same for wiring devices. Over thirty years later, all three are still top sellers, and incorporate some of the latest updates; GFCIs now offer the increased protection of SmartLockPRO® technology; Leviton’s lighting control offering now includes state-of-the-art Vizia-RF wireless lighting control based on Zensys’ innovative Z-Wave technology.
