Solar Powering a Greener Earth
IEC-Chesapeake is committed to a sustainable future for Earth, education and our members. IEC-Chesapeake promotes green economic growth by providing education that enables our members to learn, design and install solar photovoltaic systems. We offer code and design courses such as PV Systems & the NEC and Photovoltaic (NABCEP) Entry Level Certification Prep Course. Click here for a history of our committee and solar classes completed. IEC-Chesapeake is now approved by North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners to administer the PV Certificate of Knowledge Exam.
IEC-Chesapeake’s Renewable Energy Committee is expeditiously working with contractor members, industry partners, government policy makers, utilities, and electrical inspectors to implement new PV safety and installation programs. The committee is also charged with research and member education programs for energy conervation and viable renewable energy solutions.
IEC-Chesapeake recently completed construction of the solar lab at our Odenton Facility. Generous material contributions from BP Solar and Atlantic Electric Supply made this fully functional photovoltaic lab possible. The enthusiasm of our apprentices and dedication of the Renewable Energy Committee made it happen! The solar lab will be integrated into the electrical apprenticeship program as well as satisfy the Training Related Installation requirement for the NABCEP PV Installer Certification.
