Graduating class of 2018

First, let us again thank our generous 2018 sponsors, Dominion Electric Supply and Shepherd Electric Supply. Without our sponsors, we cannot deliver a fitting graduation to the hard working Journeyman class each year. Member devotion to both our core mission of training, and the celebration of achievement, is impressive.

This year, our 33rd annual graduation, was our largest- 122 Electrical Apprenticeship graduates and 500 in attendance.  We love this event; it’s the culmination of all we work for…but don’t take our word for it.

From Mike Basham, Vice President of Rommel Construction:

“As you all know, my entire family attended the graduation on Saturday, including my 2 adult children who just graduated high school and college. Collectively we could not stop talking about what a spectacular event you put on! I was so proud to be associated with a group that didn’t put on a graduation at all…but rather a celebration of our graduates. My kids were so impressed they both said they wished their graduations were just like that of the IEC. I know graduating from the IEC is different from high school or college in that these graduates are already working and know the path they are on. They are not scared of the future, unsure of what is to come, or lost in their current space. You guys obviously understood this also.

As a member company, instructor, and friend of the IEC (for which I am proud to be all of the above) I would like to congratulate all of you for a job VERY well done. You made that day very special for the graduates, their families, and their employers. I’ve been to tons of graduations, including those of rival organizations, but I have never been to a celebration that even comes close to the one you guys put on.”

We thank Mike for sharing his feelings with the IECC Staff, and for all of you who attend and support the chapter every year in this effort.

We have a very large number of students starting school this Fall (approximately 700) and we will be kicking off a new “brick and mortar” school location in Bucks County, Pennsylvania in conjunction with Upper Bucks County Community College. We are headed toward an even larger graduation in 2019.

We will be reaching out in the near future with details regarding graduation 2019, and it’s sponsorship opportunities.

IEC Chesapeake has a lot to be proud of, not the least, the commitment of our chapter members to education.
