Agile Construction is a Thing.

Agile Construction book cover

And we’re offering it in 2018 on Thursday, November 1st and Friday, November 2nd.…but what is it and why would you need it?

Agile project management started out in the software and tech industries, with the goals of constantly checking deliverables to the marketplace, and adapting to market changes. “Jack be nimble”.

Software lends itself to flexibility; we don’t really think of construction as being particularly malleable. However, many of the principles of Agility can be applied:

·      The definition of clear project goals, and breaking the goals and tasks down into “bite sizes” for optimal prioritizing

·      A clear understanding of when a task has been completed

·      Aligning project deliverables to the end user’s/customer’s requirements

·      Development of the team to plan, coordinate, purchase, deliver, and close on the project

Our course will offer Agile 101 Certification to those who complete classes. You are welcome to bring project information of a current job, walking through the process to get the most out of your attendance.

Topics include:

·      Research on productivity in electrical construction

·      Factors for optimizing labor productivity

·      Prefabrication: what it is and what it is not

·       Pre-planning and layout for large projects, including how to identify opportunities to externalize work®

·      Project Management and Organizational Principles to support prefabrication

·      Implementation planning, including setting up the prefab operation

 ·      Participants completing the workshop will:

·      Understand the state of productivity in construction today

·      Gain insight on their organization vs. the Optimal Construction Business Model

·      Identify key action steps needed for implementing an effective prefabrication process

“The agile construction practices presented by MCA offer practical tools that every electrical contractor can benefit from.”
