It’s annoying- either as end user or specifier. You need to light a space effectively, but the budget doesn’t allow for penetrating the ceiling and running a lot of recess lighting.
You have a nice existing space- you really don’t want to interrupt your life with adding recess lighting and opening up an existing ceiling.
Oh- and you don’t want ugly.
