IEC Chesapeake has added a new member to its internal team. Joe Harber joins our Education Department as Manager of the Education Department at our headquarter office in Laurel, Maryland.
He joins our existing team of Pam Fuhrer (IECC Online Apprenticeship Training) and Donte Lee (IECC Lead Instructor).
Joe shares with us:
“Originally from Minnesota, I moved to Maryland in 1992 after completing graduate school. Most of my career has been spent in education; focused on environmental and outdoor education with several nonprofit organizations.
Most recently I was Director of Education at the National Aquarium. I managed ten different educational programs serving about 25,000 students, managed the staff, budgets and volunteers.
I love working in education because I want to help people better their lives and the communities where they live. I am a huge proponent of “hands-on learning”; one of the things that drew me to IEC Chesapeake was the combination of practical and classroom learning in the apprenticeship program.
In addition to striving for continued excellence in our apprenticeships programs, I hope to be able to help provide post graduate educational programs for our members.
I look forward to opportunities where our department can introduce more young people to futures in the electrical industry by sharing IECC’s resources.
It’s exciting to be a part of IECC. Apprenticeships pay huge dividends down the road for the students and their families, our chapter members, and society as a whole.
In my spare time I love backpacking, fishing and woodworking. I live in Towson, Maryland with my wife Mandy and our teenage son Jace.”
Welcome Joe! Our brick and mortar program looks forward to continued growth with you and our already stellar team.
